George Weiner featured in Burke Connection article

If I could have any teacher I wanted to spend a year with my child, I'd choose George Weiner.  There are some teachers who are gifted teachers, and every child who has had the good luck to be in George's classroom at White Oaks Elementary School has been the beneficiary of his gifts.

George's former students come back to visit with him and say that he was the most influential teacher they ever had.  That's the best compliment any teacher could hope for.

We are so proud of George and his many accomplishments.  George has been teaching for 22 years and has been recognized for his excellence in education (by winning the Milken National Educator Award in 2002) and was named Fairfax County Teacher of the Year in 2001.  George was featured in a great article in the Burke Connecton recently.

Prior to teaching George's career at White Oaks, he practiced law with his brothers Ken and Ed for eight years.  The law firm was known as Weiner, Weiner and Weiner.  Their mother, Thelma Weiner, was their receptionist.

People still call here and ask whether we are Weiner, Weiner, and Weiner.

Weiner, Rohrsaff & Spivey paralegals contribute to Fairfax Bar Association annual Valentine project

We have a great staff.  They work hard and are still motivated to work for the community.  In February, the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section had its annual  Valentine project.  This year, they contributed books and monetary donations to the Fairfax probation houses for both boys and girls.  A total of 34 gift bags were distributed to the residents.  In addition to fiction and non-fiction books, the bags included toiletries and personal items, a journal and writing pens, and Valentine candy.

We are  proud of our paralegals who participated in this worthwhile effort.

To see copies of the recipients' individual thank you letters and photos,go to the Fairfax Bar Association link.

Comments for Cans -- Comment on this Blog and We'll Donate to a Food Bank

You hear it every day on the TV or radio news, or you read it in the newspaper - or you experience it yourself.  Virginians are losing their jobs and are relying on local food banks just to get by.  In one of the worst economic times we've ever witnessed, food banks are suffering increasing strain.

We launched our website a few months ago as a way to educate people about our justice system and how legal developments in and out of Virginia affect your rights.   To combine that goal with a small measure of social responsibility in more pressing matters, I am asking for your help, and it won't cost you a thing. Simply leave a comment on this blog post or any other post as you browse through the site. For every 100 comments to this blog post, Weiner, Rohrstaff & Spivey will make a $100 donation to the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, a non-profit organization made up of the seven regional Virginia and Washington DC food banks.  The Federation was created to support the food banks in providing food, funding, education, advocacy and awareness services and programs throughout the Commonwealth.

We're calling this program "Comments For Cans."  So leave a comment, and spread the word around in the Internet community.   And I invite other bloggers to outright steal this idea if you think it's worthy of copying. In fact, we'd be honored if you did.

After all, little hinges can open big doors. Let the comments begin..
