Pedestrian struck and killed in Alexandria area of Fairfax County

As reported by News Channel 8 http://www.news8.net/news/stories/1008/563406.html

Police say an Alexandria woman was struck and killed as she crossed Richmond Highway at the intersection of Ladson Lane in Hybla Valley area of Fairfax County early Wednesday morning.

Rosette LaFleur, 64, was struck by a 2004 Toyota Camry around 4:30 a.m. The driver of the striking vehicle was a 27-year-old woman from Woodbridge. LaFleur died at the crash scene, police say.

According to police, speed or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor of the crash. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

As a result, the northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed to traffic between Mount Vernon Highway and Sherwood Hall Lane.
