
Our client was sitting at a stop sign at an intersection in Fairfax County when defendant's car went off a side road and struck the plaintiff's vehicle. Plaintiff suffered a concussion, broken ribs, head lacerations, and contusions. Plaintiff underwent physical therapy for about a month and suffered from dizziness and headaches, attributed to post concussive syndrome. Medical expenses were $14,000.
Defendant claimed he blacked out and could not recall the accident-- the sudden illness defense. At the trial, the judge gave a jury instruction on this issue.
Before trial, the defendant had offered $40,000. The jury gave our client $214,000 for his head injury.
Awarded: Verdict $214,000
