A: WAIT! You don’t have to sign the forms sent to you by the other driver’s insurance company. Signing forms the other driver’s insurance company sends you may be the biggest mistake you can make in your personal injury case. The letter from the company may sound like it is trying to help you, but it is not. There is no reason to give the other driver’s insurance company access to private information that has nothing to do with your injury. If you sign and return the forms, you likely will be giving the company permission to obtain past medical records (that have nothing to do with the injury from this collision) and other irrelevant information. We always advise people not to sign these forms without first talking to a lawyer.
