Q: Who fixes my car?
A: If the person who was at fault has property damage liability coverage, that person’s insurance company should take care of fixing the damage to your car. You will get a call from the driver’s insurance company to let you know where to take the car for a damage estimate. Generally, you do not have a choice of where to get the estimate for your car’s damage. The insurance company will send you to a place where it does a lot of business and has a relationship.
But, if there is a dispute about the amount the company wants to pay for your car (because, for instance, you think the company did not thoroughly examine the damage from the wreck), and the dispute is delaying the repair of your car, your own insurance company can take care of repairing the car if you have collision coverage. (Your insurance company will then go to the other company to get its money back.)

I was in an accident, and my airbags deployed. I have a few bruises but otherwise feel okay. Should I still go to a doctor?
I was recently in a car accident. I haven't been to the doctor, but I'm beginning to feel sore and stiff. Should I go to the doctor now even though it's been several days since the accident?
